Rage watched as the transport approached the docking center. He couldn’t wait to see his cousin Fane and his new Triad mates. They’d been away on Savar since their Savari mating and returned to Tigeria to have their mating recognized by their people. As the leader of the Gavaire Tigerians, there could be no doubt to the legitimacy of Fane’s mating. Without a recognized Tigerian mating ceremony, when the time came for him to step down, his heir would be unable to take over leadership of the pride.

The shuttle door opened with a hiss. Fane was the first to leave the transport. As soon as his feet touched Tigerian soil, the Council Elders rushed to greet him. He ignored them all and turned to help his mate out of the shuttle, though it could be no more than a footspan drop between the transport and the ground.

Rage’s breath caught in his throat when the woman first emerged from the vehicle. She was beautiful. Certainly no more beautiful than his own mate, but she had an air about her. One that said she was born to be the mate of a king. She held her head high, surveying the people gathered around. A man stepped up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders. She tilted her head back and smiled. The man must be the other mate he’d heard about. He cast a look toward Minna and Dax.

Minna stood between them nervously clasping their hands. She’d been afraid to come, sure that she didn’t belong at such an important state event. It took every bit of his and Dax’s powers of persuasion to convince her, as their mate, she belonged here with them.

He watched as Fane tucked his mate beneath his arm and turned to face them. “This is Laynee,” he turned to the man who stepped up on the other side of his woman and smiled. “And this is Sayre. You will welcome them to Tigeria in the warrior way. They are my triad mates and I claim them as my own.” He turned to look out over the gathered crowd, his expression filled with aggression. “If anyone wishes to refute my claim on my mates, speak now or forever remain silent.” His face told anyone who bothered to look, that he would fight for his mates. No one moved. No one made a single sound of protest. Who would want to attack their king?

Rage put his hands together. He looked over at Dax, raised his brow and continued his show of support. Soon, Dax and others followed suit, showing their ruler that they approved of his mates. Many would do anything to stop the fighting amongst themselves—anything to keep from mating with blood kin. Applause echoed through the compound as they celebrated the mating of their king. With luck there would soon be a royal heir. He looked between them, not missing the secret smiles and furtive touches, and grinned. Perhaps there would be many heirs.
